LeNae Says

I believe in realistic scrapbooking—you know, album pages that look great but can be done quickly and easily. Don’t get me wrong, I love really intricate pages, but I’m a busy mom!

A little bit about me: I’ve been scrapbooking for eight years. I’m a professional designer for Hot Off The Press, Paper Wishes and Your Creative Spirit, where I do design work (everything from floral design to kids’ crafts) plus editing and some photography. I also have a new book out for people who want to learn about scrapbooking, called LeNae’s Scrapbooking Basics. The person I have always written my books for is the busy mom—someone like me, who wants to make lovely handmade items, but wants to do them quickly and easily. LeNae’s Scrapbooking Basics is no different.

So why do I scrapbook? I really create scrapbooks for my daughter, Lauren. I want her to have the most complete record I can give her of our family—so she can pass these memories down to her children. It’s also about having a creative outlet. Scrapbooking is about sharing my story. I believe everyone has a story inside them, and a scrapbook is a great place to tell it. I think of the pages as illustrations for my life. How much time do I spend on scrapbooking? For me, it’s not about how many pages I can do in a day. I prefer quality over quantity, but I personally don’t spend more than an hour or two on a page.
